Funny the day I decided to bring all my gear and capture the swimming I've been practicing, JUST SO HAPPENS to be a windy day as well, lol!



 Here are my tips for Intermediate Swimmers" #lagoonseries


1. Assess the Conditions Before Diving In

Lagoons can be unpredictable, especially on a windy day. Check the water's movement, look for any strong currents, and observe how the wind is affecting the surface. If it’s too choppy, consider waiting for calmer waters or swimming closer to the shore.



2. Use Your Breath to Stay Calm

Wind can create small waves that make breathing trickier than in a pool or a calm lake. Focus on controlled, rhythmic breathing—exhaling fully underwater and taking steady inhales when turning your head. Staying relaxed helps conserve energy and maintain balance.

3. Stay Aware of Your Surroundings

Unlike pools with clear lanes, lagoons have natural elements like submerged branches, sudden depth changes, or even fish that might surprise you. Keep an eye out and adjust your strokes accordingly to stay comfortable.



4. Engage Your Core for Stability

Wind and water movement can make you feel off-balance. Engaging your core while swimming—whether using a freestyle stroke or floating—helps stabilize your body and maintain direction, reducing unnecessary energy use.



5. Have an Exit Plan

Before you start swimming, note the best place to exit the water. Stronger winds can push you farther than expected, so be mindful of your starting point and currents that may drift you off course. If needed, swim at an angle to the wind rather than fighting against it directly.
